Technology and the Human

Technology and the Human

by ray stasieczko June 18, 2019

Well, I had lunch recently at the airport and did not talk to a human until my food was delivered. Oh, everything I ordered came out as I expected. It seems the iPad clearly stated to the kitchen everything I desired.

Sitting at the lunch counter scrolling through my iPhone; like so many others it only makes sense that businesses are incorporating more and more technology. After all, many of us are using technology most of our day. The iPhone or Smart phone is becoming an appendage to the human. The capabilities to transform how customers communicate with those who serve them will continue evolving. Technology is changing how customer experience is measured.

"Customer experience is determined in the intersection between the digital and physical worlds."

Technology naysayers will say things like "Where's the personal touch?" or, "technology is taking away jobs" My friends' technology has taken away jobs throughout human existence and thankfully so, in many cases.

The Human Race of just a thousand years ago would be horrified by the things today's civilization takes for granted because of technology. Could you image what they would think of a garbage truck? It would be described as a monster which eats everything throw into its month, and they would believe the rear of the beast was indeed its mouth. There are thousands of such examples, the reason I choice a garbage truck is this. The evolutionary advancements of humankind in facilitating cleanness is what allows technology to exist and improve.

Currently, technology benefits society more than it destroys it. However, today, some technologies could, in fact, annihilate the human race. However, I believe our obsession to make life easier through technology will cause us as a people to fight even harder for our continued existence? Will humankind's advancements in technology make humans even more compassionate towards each other? I believe yes.

Today as I watch young children play and communicate with other children all over the world. It amazes me of their camaraderie and openness to learning about different cultures, and their abilities to explore the world in ways which were once unimaginable. Today's technology has opened the windows to the world. Past societies could only look out the window and judged what they saw. Today we can open these windows with a click of a mouse explore and learn first hand from what we see.

"Judgement is looking through the window, learning is opening the window."

I imagine one day, the universal language for all societies will is derived from technology. The world will communicate seamlessly. When one thinks back through history at how communication was narrow, cultures were silos, and rarely interpreted or understood by outsiders. Now technology is universal and for the most part borderless. One day the people will fight their govt's for technology rights maybe second to human rights. I believe through technology; humans will become more tolerant and caring of each other and not just of their cultures and beliefs but a global compassion.

The world may grow in population, but it most definitely will shrink in size. The abilities to travel will only improve; the abilities of technology to create probabilities from imagined possibilities, will be both scary and amazing. All societies struggle with much of what they believe and vision of the future, and at the same time today most would thank the past for improving technology and creating a better today. Obviously, not all technology brings good, and if so, evil always challenges that which is good, but the scales of humankind's evolution always tips towards progress, and thankfully, more of the world is good than evil.

So, next time, you are amazed by technology or, even disturbed by it. Think about the benefits you receive every day because past generations strived to improve humanity by improving technology.

"Status Quo is the Killer of all that will be invented."
