In this episode I discuss why all the industry’s OEMs must be vigilant to the importance of profitability. Kyocera has exemplified a stewardship towards profitability. That discipline has put them in a great position to weather the storms of disruption. Delivering low operating profit is never good. However, during disruptions it's an occasional inevitable. As the industry continues under pressure it will be those with consistent discipline who will prevail.
Why does Ricoh perform so terribly especially in their Digital Services Business unit? The first 9 months of FY 24 the Digital Services business unit produced Over 9 Billion dollars in revenues with an operating profit of less than one percent! This happens nearly every quarter.
